Project Description
The Art of Green Leather Case |
Description:
With the development and popularisation of printing technology, there are more and more spaces where designers can make use of as canvases to realise ideas. The tablet leather case of Daycraft happens to be one of these nice ‘canvases’ suitable for designers to freely create. Daycraft’s tablet leather case features an open-ended design, the product’s minimalism has pushed the level of personalisation to the highest.
Through「DesignXcel」, architectural design freshmasonry Yannick Lo has merged her architectural presentations with Daycraft’s tablet leather cases. In her final thesis ‘Evolution from the past: The unexplored potential of a print factory’, Yannick proposed an alternative way for urban renewal. As opposed to deploying the same homogenous urban template for city planning, she insisted that cities should reflect their individuality and history of the collectives of the places. The site she based her thesis on is located in Sheung Wan, that used to be a hub of a unique industry of typography but has disappeared due to the development of new printing technologies. She wished to weave this unique cultural heritage into her proposed urban plan, presenting a slow living style and paying respect to its history.
Daycraft’s customisation platform has benefited designers and artists through distribution of their works with minimal effort. Combined with the rectangular form factor of the tablet cases, there is little to no excessive interference with the designs of the freshmasonries; the works were merely incorporated into the environmentally friendly leather, making them art pieces that can be carried around.
在盧同學的最後一篇論文《Evolution from the past: The unexplored potential of a print factory》中,她提出了一種可以替代市區更新的方法。
